How much CalBal® [Pro] do I feed?

For optimal results, we recommend incorporating CalBal® [Pro] in your prepartum/pre-fresh mixed ration at a rate of 6.7-fold relative to the dietary phosphorus content prepartum for 18-24 days.

Pre-fresh diet recommendations

  • Feed cows a pre-fresh diet for 18-24 days
  • Formulate diet for proper metabolizable protein levels
  • Minimize dietary phosphorus by reducing protein sources with high phosphorus, such as Canola and DDG
  • Studies show that elevated phosphorus in prepartum diets increased the risk of milk fever

Recommended macro mineral content in prepartum mixed ration

Remainder of minerals should be formulated 10-20% above NASEM 2021 recommendations.
